Lisa Scalia, 33 year old mother, caused the death of her 7 month old daughter after giving her methadone. This New Jersey mom has now been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Her role as a mom was terribly filled and it is very unfortunate the the authorities did not discover her abuse sooner.
She must serve at least 7 of those years before she even becomes eligible for parole. She had pleaded guilty to aggravated assault as a part of the plea deal.
She gave her daughter methadone in January of 2016 and then rolled onto the 7-month old girl. The mother was high at the time as well.
The little girl died from a drug overdose and not from being slept on. She was found unconscious in the home and died five days later in the hospital.
Scalia had 34 bags of heroin on her person as well 10 oxycodone pills on her person when she was arrested.
Atlantic County prosecutors say 33-year-old Lisa Scalia must serve nearly seven years of the term imposed Monday before she becomes eligible for parole. The Ventnor woman previously had pleaded guilty in court to aggravated assault as part of a plea deal.
Authorities have said Scalia gave her baby methadone in January of 2016 and also rolled onto the 7-month-old girl while she was high on drugs. They say the baby died from the methadone.
The child was found unconscious at Scalia’s home on Jan. 3, 2016 and died five days later at a hospital.
