Summer, a North Carolina honor roll student at Hickory Ridge High School, was targeted by a tyrannical principal who said that she was violating the dress code. His tirade ended up banning her from graduation.
Summer was just sitting in the cafeteria last week when the principal approached her and said that she was violating the school’s dress code. Her collar bones were exposed, which apparently was seen as extremely lewd. In addition to her collar bones, her shoulders were partially showing as well a some of her back. Summer said that her shirt was “fine” to wear to school, but her words went unheard by the principal.
She was asked to put on her jacket, and she complied. The principal was still not happy, so Summer was asked to change her clothes altogether. To this additional measure, Summer asked the principal to call her mom.
Summer has had many issues with this principal and her mother had formally requested that the school contact her before taking any disciplinary measures. Her mother was not able to be contacted.
That is when things took a turn for the worst. During an assembly, the principal asked everyone to leave, except for Summer. She was asked to change or get arrested by a security guard who was looming over her with a gun.
It is obvious from her mistreatment that this principal has some sort of personal vendetta against this girl.
During a school assembly later that day, the principal entered with a security guard and asked everyone to leave except for summer.
“[The security guard] was within five feet of me, he had his hand on his gun,” Summer said. “[The principal] said ‘I’m gonna give you an ultimatum. We have tried to call your mother. You either come with me to the control room to change your shirt or we will arrest you.”
Summer’s mother called moments before the security guard could handcuff the high school senior.
Summer was not arrested, but Yahoo reported she was given a 10-day suspension from school and was banned from all senior activities including her own high school graduation. Summer told NBC Charlotte that she believes the principal is still thinking about expelling her. “It’s just sad because I worked so hard for four years to walk across that stage,” she said. “We have drug dealers walking across that stage, we have sex offenders walking across that stage and then the 4.4 (GPA) student who showed her shoulders can’t.”
