What do bears and police officers have in common? In this unusual case, it is that they absolutely love donuts.
In Steamboat Springs, Colorado, a bear ripped off the bumper of a car in an attempt to get into the vehicle, which was used to deliver donuts.
There were no doughnuts inside the car at the time, but the owners, Todd and Kim Robertson were still woken up early on Monday to the sound of a black bear trying to break into their car.
Kim Robertson said that the smell of the doughnuts lingers in the car, and that delicious smell must have been what attracted the bear in the first place. The car was parked in the driveway of the couple’s home.
The police officer who responded to the scene said that he smelled the doughnuts from the driveway, far outside of the scene of the damaged vehicle.
Officer John McCartin went on to say, as a cop, “I guess if anyone is an expert about this [doughnuts], it’s us.”
