Brian Kornbluth, 28 year old Florida elementary school teacher, was caught on camera taking advantage of one of his students. He traded gummy bears for a kiss from his 10-year old male student, according to a report by the police.
This fourth grade teacher is now pleading guilty to charges of battery after what occurred last week.
Another teacher at Boca Raton Charter School reported Kornbluth to the principal for his “unusual requests” which ultimately lead to him being arrested back in February.
The boy who was victimized told his story to the police. He was called down to an empty classroom at approxmately 7:25 am to get some gummy bears.
The principal had purposely positioned some security cameras at Kornbluth’s desk, which caught him briefly kissing the student on the lips.
The boy’s sister also said that Kornbluth had kissed her on the lips as well in the previous year. Kornbluth denied this allegation, but admitted to kissing the boy. Obviously, that would have been hard to deny as it was caught on camera.
Kornbluth is reportedly still allowed to teach while on probation. His attorney said he is not currently in a classroom, but does plan to continue his career in education. The police department has additionally received some backlash by critics who say the release of the video is inappropriate. “Some folks in the media think it is important for you to see it, so we follow the law to the best of our ability,” the Boca Raton Police Chief said in a statement posted to Facebook. The boy told police he was called down to the empty classroom at about 7:25 a.m. to get gummy bears. That’s when surveillance cameras, which the principal purposely positioned to face Kornbluth’s desk, caught him briefly kissing the student on the lips. The boy’s sister also alleged that Kornbluth kissed her on the lips once the previous year, which Kornbluth denied. Police said he admitted to kissing the boy.
