Joel Bautista Trinidad, 34 year old Mexican National, tried to get a 12 year old girl to run away with him. Her mother found explicit text messages on her phone from Trinidad.
She alerted the authorities and he was arrested on May12th by Palm Beach County Detectives.
Within only a few weeks of meeting the girl, he picked up the 12-year old preteen and her 2 year old sister at a doughnut shop near her bus stop. That is where he sexually abused her before taking her to school.
These sexual assaults happened twice, according to a report to the police by the girl. The second assault involved penetrative intercourse, which the girl said was painful for her.
This was not a case of misguided love. Trinidad was not in love with the little girl, but was actually trying to lure her into becoming a prostitute.
He repeatedly asked the girl if she would be willing to have sex for money or if any of her friends would be willing to have sex for money. Trinidad went on to say he could make a lot of money by selling sex with the girls.
Trinidad also reportedly texted her to say he was spying on her while she was practicing track with her family. “According to the texts in the arrest report, Trinidad asked the girl first if she would have sex for money and then if her friends would have sex with men for money, and told her she and he could make a lot of money by selling the girls,” WPBF-ABC noted. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed an immigration detainer on Trinidad and said that a review of his immigration status would come after the resolution of his current criminal case. Trinidad – charged with human trafficking, sexual battery, and lewd and lascivious molestation – remains in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail.
