In California, there was a big scare on Wednesday that can be seen on the highway. There was a clown standing on the highway holding a “bloody” machete.
According to a Facebook post by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, they agreed that dress up can be fun, but they kindly asked that people do not stand in the middle of the road.
Several people got scared and called 911 after the incident.
The man who was on the road was not charged with anything, as he was just standing there.
They called him “Larry” and said that he did not do anything wrong because he did not actually threaten anyone with the machete.
The 61-year old man was standing there and holding out his thumb in an attempt to hitch a ride. Two deputies came up to Larry with their guns drawn, but they eventually realized that it was all a joke. He was arrested, questioned and then released.
Drivers received quite the scare on Wednesday when a clown holding a “bloody” machete was seen on a California highway. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office posted about the sighting on Facebook Wednesday. The post read, in part, “It can be fun to dress up as a clown, right? However, if you do, please don’t stand in the side of Highway 101 at San Juan Rd holding a machete. Larry Tovey, from Gilroy, did this today and startled a few people who called 911.”
The 61-year-old man was holding out his thumb as if he was trying to hitch a ride while holding the machete coated in fake blood in his other hand, KSBW reports. “Two deputies contacted Larry, with their guns drawn, and eventually figured out what he was up to,” the post said. “He didn’t actually threaten anybody. He just had a sick sense of humor,” said Monterey County Sheriff’s Cmdr. John Thornburg.
