On Monday evening in the Bronx, a 5-year old boy died on his birthday after being shot in the head by a stray bullet.
According to the police, the tragedy occurred at 1138 Washington Avenue at approximately 5:15 pm.
The boy’s name was Jaheem Hunter. He was struck by the bullet as he was walking out of the building with his father.
The boy was the unfortunate victim of circumstance, as that bullet was not meant for him. He was caught in the crossfire of a shooting that was taking place nearby.
There were two men in the area who were said to have ‘bad blood.’ They engaged each other in a verbal argument, exchanging jabs with each other, when one of them men took out a pistol and started shooting.
The other man ran away from his assailant down Washington Avenue, so the shooter began to chase him.
