In South Carolina, a woman let six dogs die in her hot car. She left the dogs at an animal clinic on Saturday.
All that happened after her terrible actions as a consequence were that she received a ticket.
Her fine is only $1,100, which is not much considering that half a dozen dogs lost their lives due to her actions.
If she fails to pay that fine, she will get 30 days in jail for each dog that died.
Inside the car, it was 84 degrees, which was warm enough for the weather to cause heat stress in the canines.
She said that she left the car on with the air conditioner running, but when she came back 45 minutes later, she noted that the dogs were not feeling well and the air conditioner was off.
North Charleston police told news outlets a Summerville woman was cited after she left the dogs in her car at an animal clinic Saturday. The unnamed woman said she took the dogs to the clinic but put them back in her car because there were aggressive dogs there. A police report said she left the car’s air conditioner on and returned about 45 minutes to find it off and the dogs in distress.
