Samantha Simmons and Robert Clark of Rockbridge Colorado were found guilty of child abuse. They have been put behind bars for more than 100 years collectively. Simmons got 43 years in prison and Clark got 65 years.
This case was called the most disturbing case ever by deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney. The terrible parents were found guilty of rape, forcible sodomy, child endangerment, aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties with a child.
They sexually abused their two daughters. The girls were aged three and eight years old.
When officers arrived at their home, they were greeted urine, feces and swarms of bugs. Even the grandmother’s house down the street had similar conditions. Since both of these homes were deemed unlivable conditions for the children, they were displaced by the authorities.
The girls were moved into foster care, where one of the girls opened up about the details of the sexual abuse her parents tormented her with.
The girl was touched in inappropriate ways by both of her parents, forced to watch dirty movies and then forced to perform sexual acts on her sister. The abuse often caused her to bleed.
The deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney says the Department of Social Services (DSS) case workers were some of the best but that the negligence in this case involved a supervisor. He could not clarify more on how the ball was dropped to getting an investigation going into this abuse case.
An investigation into their children’s living conditions began in late 2015 when a call was put into authorities to do a welfare check at their house on Jasmine Ln.
When the officer arrived, insects were reportedly swarming the home, and there was a strong odor of urine and feces. The officer found the same conditions down at the grandmother’s house on the same street and deemed both unfit for the three- and eight-year-old girls.
When the girls were put into foster care, one girl told her foster mother gruesome details about the sexual abuse she endured from her mother and uncle.
