The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, threatened to sink a U.S. submarine deployed in the waters near South Korea.
The USS Michigan is a nuclear-powered missile sub that recently arrived in the region.
The powerful sub is part of an increasingly powerful U.S. fleet that is patrolling the Korean waters in response to recent threats from North Korea.
According to The Daily Caller, the North Korean major propaganda outlet Uriminzokkri issued the following warning:
The urgent fielding of the nuclear submarine in the waters off the Korean Peninsula timed to coincide with the deployment of the super aircraft carrier strike group, is intended to intensify military threats toward our republic further. North Korea warned that “whether it’s a nuclear aircraft carrier or a nuclear submarine, they will be turned into a mass of scrap metal in front of our invincible military power centered on the self-defense nuclear deterrence.
Observers are increasingly concerned that the unpredictable North Korean leader may make a major miscalculation that could lead to an outbreak of hostilities.
