A bill in the Texas House was approved this week that would permit Texas adoption agencies to reject foster parents who are LGBT.
The bill was supported by Christian groups and now heads to the Texas Senate.
There is a debate about how well adoptions by LGBT couples serve the interests of the child. Some children are forced into a lifestyle that they find confusing and causes issues for them as the grow older.
At the same time, many LGBT parents prove to be excellent role models and their adopted or foster children find a loving family.
According to The Daily Beast, the bill would also bar Atheists and Single Parents from adopting.
If the bill is passed by the Texas legislator, Gov. Greg Abbott would be likely to approve the measure.
