In the Allman Brothers song “Midnight Rider” Gregg Allman sings “The Road Goes on Forever.” However, sad to say Gregg Allman reached the end of his road this weekend with his premature death at age 69.
According to Rolling Stone, Allman “passed away peacefully at his home in Savannah, Georgia on Saturday.
There was no immediate explanation for the cause of death, but Allman has suffered from a variety of health issues in recent years, including chronic liver problems.
With his brother, Duane Allman, the Allman Brothers created ‘Southern-rock,’ a style that blended country blues with the San Francisco sound of the 60’s.
His brother, Duane died in a motorcycle accident in 1971 at the age of 24.
Gregg went on to record a number of records after his brother passed and even married Cher in 1975.
