A substitute teacher hired to replace a varsity coach who did not report gang rape by his athletes, himself had to resign after allegations of him sexting a minor.
Avery Rollins, 23, was hired over a year ago by Ooltewah High School to replace coach Andre “Tank” Montgomery who was suspended after three members of his traveling squad held their victims down and plunged pool cues up their anuses during three nights in December 2015. As a result of this, a 15-year old boy who put up a struggle suffered a ruptured colon and bladder.
Montgomery has since been cleared of the four counts of failure to report child sexual abuse. The basketball trio, who led the gang rape were all found guilty and served some jail time.
Very soon after this explosive scandal the cops in Collegedale, Tennessee were back at the high school again, having gotten a tip that now Rollins was sexting a 17-year-old female student. He was sending the girl dick picks via Snapchat and asking nude photos in return from her. The two unsuccessfully planned to have sex on numerous occasions, in one instance they didn’t because she “chickened out.” Due to insufficient evidence, however, Rollins was not charged in connection. He resigned anyway once the investigation was opened.
The Daily Beast reports:
A police report from the investigation in Collegedale said friends of Rollins’s accuser told a Ooltewah guidance counselor, who then reported the claims internally. Police were then notified about Rollins allegedly sending “inappropropriate SnapChats” to the girl from September to December 2015.
When quizzed, the teen admitted to “SnapChatting with [Rollins], sending nude chats back and forth,” the police report said.
Instead of sending the suggestive images of herself, she said she instead found “nude pictures of someone off the internet” and sent those to Rollins. In return, the girl received “dick pics from him,” police said, and the two “planned to meet for sex on three separate occasions.”
