Management at the Smoky Crossing Apartments in Seymour, Tennessee, warned Tori Jenkins about her swimsuit.
Twenty-year-old Jenkins said she was wearing a pink one-piece suit when someone from the leasing office came up to her saying, “You cannot be at the pool in that bathing suit.”
Jenkins recalled how the employee told her to put on some shorts, or get in the pool where no one could see her.
Jenkins said, “It was just really degrading over all, and I left crying and I just went home.”
Jenkins was accused of wearing a “thong bathing suit“. She was even told there were complaints about the way she was dressed, and that was only after roughly 3 minutes of being at the pool.
Tori was told that a normal bathing suit covers the entire backside, and that there were a lot of teenaged boys at the complex who didn’t need to be excited.
Smoky Crossing released a statement saying it is a welcoming family community. They also maintain that many residents in the community complained and expressed concerns regarding Ms. Jenkins’ swimwear. In accordance with pool policies, which are posted near the swimming area, a leasing consultant requested Ms. Jenkins wrap a towel around herself when she was walking around the pool.
Smoky Crossing management said that Ms. Jenkins was never asked to leave the pool.
