The Bravalla Festival in Sweden has been cancelled next year after 11 cases of sexual abuse and one rape were reported at this year’s event. The 3-day festival which has been in operation since 2013 brings in top names such as Iron Maiden and Kanye West.
But thanks to a number of criminals who prey on young individuals in crowds, the organisers have no choice but to postpone it indefinitely. Unfortunately, fives rapes and an unknown number of sexual assaults were reported after last year’s event as well. Perhaps they thought it might be a one-off anomaly? Despite their efforts to increase security and install extra video surveillance technology this year, the attacks occurred again.
One festival representative stated, “Words cannot describe how incredibly sad we are about this, and we most seriously regret and condemn this. This is not f**king okay. We do not accept this at our festival.”
Founder Folkert Koopmans said, “I’ve had enough. Violence kills the festival experience, the love of music and, above all, people are injured. One is too much.”
This is just terrible behavior from concert goers! We are grateful that it was cancelled to save more crimes being committed in the future. Let’s hope they catch them – one and all!
