No one is surprised that Qatar banned the movie Wonder Woman. The reason? The lead actress is Gal Gadot, an outspoken Israeli actress who spent time in the Israeli Defense Force protecting Israel.
Gadot is also a very vocal advocate for Israel. In the summer of 2014, she posted the following to Facebook:
I am sending my love and prayers to my fellow Israeli citizens. Especially to all the boys and girls who are risking their lives protecting my country against the horrific acts conducted by Hamas, who are hiding like cowards behind women and children. … We shall overcome!!! Shabbat Shalom! #weareright #freegazafromhamas #stopterror #coexistance #loveidf
Qatar wasn’t the first majority Muslim country to ban the film. Lebanon and Tunisia banned the film from being shown in theaters.
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen cut diplomatic ties with Qatar over its sponsorship of terrorism in the region.
The Daily Wire reports:
In a disappointing, but not at all shocking, turn of events, Qatar has decided to ban DC’s Wonder Woman film because it features outspoken Israeli actress, Gal Gadot.
As The Daily Wire previously reported, the Muslim-majority nations of Lebanon and Tunisia also banned the release of Wonder Woman in theaters.
