A razor blade was recently found hidden under a shopping cart handle at a Walmart in Festus, Missouri. The blade resulted in a woman receiving a minor cut to her hand. Now, a second blade has been reported.
Walmart shopper Michelle Patterson reported that she was cut by a blade that was concealed under a shopping cart handle while she was wiping the cart down with an antibacterial wipe.
The store annuonced that they have checked all carts and will continue to check them just in case.
Police do not believe the razors were placed on the carts to intentionally harm someone, pointing out that it may have been the tool of a shoplifter.
Walmart released a statement saying:
“It’s disturbing that someone might try to injure a customer or associate, and we’re grateful no one was seriously hurt. We’ve checked all shopping carts and are currently conducting regular checks. We’ve also reviewed surveillance footage and will continue working with police to find the person responsible.”
The Federalist Paper Project reports:
A second razor blade has been found tucked under a shopping cart handle bar at a Festus, Missouri Walmart.
Michelle Patterson reported that she cut herself on the blade while cleaning her cart with an antibacterial wipe.
Whatever the blade’s purpose for being there, it’s certainly a good idea for shoppers to keep a careful eye out in the future.
