If George Lopez was an expert in politics, he’d be a politician. But he’s not! Lopez is a funny man who tries to entertain us with his humor and wit.
The key word there is, “tries”.
Lopez threatened to leave the United States if Donald Trump won the election. Well, Trump won, and Lopez is still here!
Lopez posted a controversial comment on Instagram over the weekend. Although he acts tough, he has since made his account private, most likely due to the negative backlash he received.
“The Trump administration is deporting Latinos to make the streets safer,” Lopez wrote. “You wanna make the streets safer deport the police!”
Some of his fans felt Lopez’s statement was “irresponsible” and suggested he “stick to comedy.”
“This is a very irresponsible comment bro. You have really disappointed me bro, I thought you were better than that,” one commenter wrote.
Another said, “Not cool @georgelopez. I’m Latina and I’ve been pulled over more than enough times for speeding. All but one cop were nice and respectful.”
Another user wrote, “I realize there are some bad apples in the bunch but your statement puts all cops in the bad bunch category. Please stick to comedy. You’re not that funny when you bring politics into your posts.”
One could argue that Lopez’s brand of humor isn’t all that funny whether it’s about politics or not!
Young Conservatives reports:
What is it with celebrities that they think people care about their personal politics?
Stick to acting. Stick to music. Stick to whatever it is people like about you.
But why in the world do celebrities insist on alienating half of their fan base by spouting off about something they don’t know about.
Kathy Griffin. Madonna. Chelsea Handler. Johnny Depp.
And now, George Lopez.
