US Customs and Border Protection found a woman hanging from a border fence just east of Nogales, Arizona. Two Smugglers were in the process of lowering the 37-year-old Mexican woman down off the fence when they saw US Border Patrol agents coming. The smugglers fled the scene leaving the woman dangling several feet off the ground.
The woman, who is now facing charges for immigration violations, was reported to be uninjured by the whole ordeal. Fire fighters were called to the scene to get the woman down off the fence.
Data collected by Border Patrol shows that apprehensions at the southwest border of the United States have seen a sharp decline. According to PolitiFact, arrests have decreased to as much as 61 percent since President Trump won the election.
The number of apprehensions at the border currently sit at its lowest point in the last 17 years.
According to some experts, the decline in illegal immigration may be a direct result of President Donald Trump’s strong rhetoric against undocumented immigrants.
Illegals know that they will be sent home when they are discovered.
