The United Kingdom is one of our oldest and closest allies. The State Department has just approved the $1.04 billion sale of the American-made Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV).
According to an announcement by the Defense Department, the sale also includes repair and maintenance equipment as well as training for vehicle operators and maintainers.
“This proposed sale supports the foreign policy and national security policies of the United States by helping to improve the security of a NATO ally which has been, and continues to be, an important partner on critical foreign policy and defense issues,” the announcement stated.
The JLTV is produced in Wisconsin by Oshkosh Corp.
The JLTV is larger than the Humvee and is designed to protect against improvised explosive devices that have killed many troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
This deal could lead to decades of work for the employees at Oshkosh Corp!
