John Bernecker, 33, was rehearsing a fight scene for the AMC hit ‘Walking Dead’ on Wednesday. Bernecker, an experienced stuntman, lost his footing, and fell onto a concrete floor.
Bernecker was placed on life support in intensive care at Atlanta Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries Thursday evening.
AMC has suspended production of season 8 of the series following the accident.

“We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set,” AMC said in a statement Thursday. “He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”

Bernecker also worked on the upcoming films Rampage, starring Dwayne Johnson, and Game Night, starring Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman. Both films are currently in production.

Walking Dead stuntman John Bernecker has died from injuries sustained on the set of the hit AMC show.
The 33-year-old was rehearsing a fight scene for the program on Wednesday, which was supposed to end with a routine fall from at 25-foot balcony, but Bernecker lost his footing and fell onto a concrete floor at the Raleigh Studio in Atlanta, Ga.
