Mama June Shannon, mother of reality TV star Honey Boo Boo, says she paid for every single one of her plastic surgery procedures on her own.
Also a reality star, Mama June went from 460 pounds, to a mere size 4. Her success is the result of both plastic surgery and drastic, healthy lifestyle changes.
In an interview on iHeartRadio’s “The Domenick Nati Show, Mama June said that she had to pay for all her medical procedures, “just like everybody else.”
She notes that she was going to have her procedures, whether her new show, “Mama June: From Not to Hot,” was involved or not. It was all funded by her. WEtv simply chronicled her transformation.
Shannon, 37, shed the weight after undergoing gastric sleeve and skin removal surgeries, coupled with dieting and exercising.
In addition to the gastric sleeve operation and procedures to remove skin from her arms and neck, Shannon told host Domenick Nati that she got a tummy tuck and a breast lift, but says she doesn’t anticipate going under the knife again.
“I’m definitely not going to have any more,” she said on the radio show.
Shannon, who said she doesn’t consider her procedures “plastic surgery,” added that she wouldn’t be against her daughters one day undergoing similar operations if they believed it would help them.
“If it would make them confident, then yes, I would recommend the surgery,” she said. “You have to do your research, definitely, and that’s what got me into the gastric sleeve. That helps you lose as much weight as possible.”
The TV personality unveiled a first glimpse at her new figure in a trailer for “From Not to Hot” last week.
Shannon rose to fame on the TLC show “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” which followed her daughter Alana, a child beauty pageant contestant, and their family.
TLC canceled the program in 2014, however, after reports surfaced claiming Shannon was dating a man named Mark Anthony McDaniel Sr. who had been convicted of child molestation. Shannon’s eldest daughter Anna, now 22, has alleged the man molested her when she was 8.
Shannon denied being in a relationship with McDaniel, who served 10 years in prison.
