Does McDonald’s have it in for President Donald Trump? That’s the question many are asking after a tweet went out mocking the President.
Now, social media is on fire. And, Trump supporters want heads to roll. This comes after a tweet went out on McDonald’s corporate Twitter account.
The McDonald’s tweet made fun of POTUS. It also called for former President Barack Obama to return to office. The tweet from Mickey Dee’s read:
This now infamous tweet went out Thursday morning at 8:16 AM EST. For a brief moment, it was pinned to the top of the fast food mogul’s Twitter account.
It was quickly deleted. But, of course, numerous Twitter users captured screenshots of the tweet before it disappeared.
McDonald’s posted a response more than two hours later, claiming its Twitter account “had been compromised.” The fast-food giant said it was investigating the matter.
President Trump has a long history with McDonald’s. The billionaire starred in a McDonald’s TV commercial in 2002, and has posted photos of himself eating its fries and hamburgers during his campaign.
Interestingly, former Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs is now the executive vice president and chief communications officer at McDonald’s, which caused some to wonder if the Twitter diss was intentional.
Trump supporters reacted by calling for a boycott of McDonald’s unless it apologized.
