Officials say that Saturday, a woman used a meat cleaver to hack her aunt to death. Elizabeth Sanchez, 30, shared the Queens apartment with the 50-year-old victim.
Sanchez was charged with the murder of Maria Palaguachi. It reportedly happened in their two-story Rochdale home on 174th St.
Palaguachi’s dead body was discovered by her daughter on Thursday at about 11 AM. She’d been stabbed in her bedroom, where the bloody meat cleaver was recovered by investigators.
The suspect, Digna Sanchez-Ortiz AKA Elizabeth Sanchez has been charged with murder. She now faces 25-to-life in prison, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.
Authorities did not say what sparked the brutal attack — but police were called to the home for domestic disputes seven times in recent years.
Neighbor Michael Simpson, 40, said doesn’t know Sanchez, and there was an estimated 50 people inside the house at all times.
“There’s a lot of people coming and going all the time,” Simpson said. “It’s a big family. It’s like six or seven kids. Their house is a revolving door.”
