A Texas man, Derrick Metcalf, 23, was arrested yesterday after it turned out he hired a couple to kill his girlfriend and their unborn child.
The girlfriend, Rose Marie Hunt, 21, was found dead in the back seat of a car covered in a white sheet last week. Her unborn child also died as a result of the shooting.
David Galindo, 20, and his girlfriend, Daizy Costello, were caught and arrested along with Metcalf after they were given money and commissioned to commit the murder of Hunt.
“Detectives also uncovered evidence that Mr. Galindo’s girlfriend, 18-year-old Daizy Costello, was present during the negotiations and later, knowing what the plan was, took steps for further facilitate the murder… Both were interviewed and have confessed to their involvement in the murder,” reports the Daily Mail.
The Daily Mail reports further:
Investigators said that Galindo and Hunt were familiar with each other from school and Galindo had lured her to her death by taking her on a date on the day he killed her, reports KPRC.
Police arrested Galindo in February after allegedly discovering a handgun that matched the bullet caliber used to shoot Hunt in the head at his home.
Detectives also said that a witness wrote down the license plate of a vehicle seen near Hunt’s body.
When cops found the empty vehicle at a nearby restaurant, they found the owner, who claimed that Galindo had been driving the car when the witness wrote down the plate number, according to ABC13.
When interviewed, Galindo supposedly told detectives that he had been with Hunt on the day of her death and was present at the time of her murder.
Hunt died from a single gunshot wound to the head, according to reports.
In Texas, capital murder charges can carry a punishment of life in prison or the death penalty.
